Course Description
Kenya’s rapidly aging population presents unique caregiving challenges as traditional family support structures evolve and chronic health conditions increase, requiring specialized knowledge in geriatric psychosocial care that addresses the complex emotional, social, and mental health needs of elderly individuals. This vital training program prepares healthcare workers, family caregivers, social workers, and eldercare facility staff to provide holistic, dignified care that goes beyond physical health to address the psychological wellbeing, social engagement, cognitive health, and quality of life of older adults. Participants will learn to recognize and respond to common mental health issues in elderly populations including depression, anxiety, dementia, and social isolation, understand the psychological impact of aging-related losses such as independence, social roles, and physical capabilities, develop communication strategies adapted to cognitive and sensory changes, implement interventions that promote mental stimulation and social connection, navigate family dynamics in eldercare decisions, and create care environments that preserve dignity, autonomy, and purpose—ensuring that Kenya’s senior citizens receive compassionate, comprehensive care that honors their life experience while supporting their mental and emotional wellbeing in their later years.
Certification
Upon successful completion of this program, participants will receive a Certificate in Geriatric Psychosocial Care from Roman Vibes Ltd, recognized in healthcare and eldercare sectors and endorsed by geriatric specialists.
